Should I get a second credit card to improve my credit score 6 months from now?
I already have one credit card. It has a 6000 dollar limit of which I use about 800 dollars each month and pay off that amount on time every month. My score from all three bureaus range from 710 to 750. I am wondering if getting another card with a similar or higher credit limit will improve my credit score by decreasing my credit usage ratio. I plan to buy a house 6 months from now.

Your credit usage ratio really has nothing to do with your score. Carrying balances of more than 30% hurts your score. But this isn’t a factor since you are paying the account in full every month.
The second account would help build more credit history. Use both cards every month and pay them both in full.
Other factors are more important than your score. The length of your credit history could be a factor. Mortgage companies also look at your work history, salary, and debt to income ratio. You will also need a nice downpayment.

750 is good and should get you a loan with a good interest rate. What else is on your credit? Its good to have a balance of revolving accounts such as a credit card and installment loans such as a car loan. Unlike some said: what your balance is does not matter if you pay it off every month as long as it does not go over 50% of your credit limit. What you are doing is good. You can get another credit card but the inquiry will stay on there for 24 months and may lower your score a little after initially inquiry.

A faster way to up credit is run up a $3000 tab on your current credit card and pay the balance when due.
