How To Improve Your Credit Score?
Nowadays having a good credit rating means a lot of things to your life. It is so important that if you do not have it you may live your life uncomfortable and difficult. This is also the reason why people are struggling to have a good credit score by working so hard and try every way so as to improve their credit score.
Well, you may ask “Just what kind of benefits I can have when I have a good credit rating?”. Mainly on two reasons:
- Firstly, if you have a good credit score your chance to get a loan, like a car loan or home loan, with good terms will increase.
- Secondly, you can easily get a job which required a good credit score, such as finance or management consulting firm.
However, if you suffered from bad credit score in the past, it is now to improve credit score by yourself as soon as you can before your credit score is going to be worse. But how should some body improve their credit scores?
To certain extend, if you are going to improve your credit score, you got to have patience and a little luck. This is what you should do for the sake of you and your family in order to live comfortably and without too much difficulties. Once you have improved your credit score, you will soon discover that there are tons of opportunities available under the sun and in front of you.
Basic Understanding On Credit
Before you are going to start improving your credit score, you should have some general understanding on credit, and know how it affects you and your life. Here is an example, if you are going to get a loan, lenders will, first and foremost, take a look at your credit rating. So that your application is not being treated as “High Risk” from their point of view. Here a good credit score will give a clear message to your lender that “I will repay the loan on time.” and your lender will be pleased to approve your loan request with good terms. The same things applied when you are going to apply for a credit card.
Now that you know the meanings behind a good credit rating, now you may want to know if you have a good credit rating or not. It is quite surprise that, actually not so many people are very clear on their credit score or credit rating. But it is also easy for people to get a free credit report or free credit score provided by website like us. All you need to do is by submitting your information, your credit agent will then assess what you submitted and find out your credit score. They will then provide you a formal credit report with a number, which is your own credit score and other details like the level of your credit risk and credit rating rates.
If the number on your report is high, it means that you have a good credit score, while if you have a bad credit score, it means that your credit history is not so good from the point of view of lender and you will find difficult when you are apply for a loan.
Therefore, if you have a bad credit score and you want to improve it, there are several things that you need to do:
Broke up With Your Old Debt ASAP
Firstly, you need to take care of your old debt. Save money right now and pay off your debt as soon as you can. It is an important way to improve your credit score as old debt will be considered by lenders and they may question: “Why so much debt left out unpaid?”. Once you pay off all your loans, lenders will stop making negative judgement on your report to credit reporting agencies. Cutting the source of negative credit history is your first step on having a good credit score.
Remember, paying off all your past debt immediately does not mean that you will get a good credit score overnight. It is just stopping your credit score from getting more worse. History is hiding nowhere and it is the fact that you have that bad credit history. Therefore, the next step to improve your credit score is by having good, positive reports on your credit rating.
Create Your Own Credit History
You can do this by applying for a credit card which is designed for people with bad credit score, such as secured credit card. Then you need to open a new saving and checking account. Now it is your very own responsibility to pay off your balance on time in order to get a positive credit report.
At last, your bad, old credit score will expire in time. But before that, keep paying off your debt continuously and do not delay. It is your chance to setup a good credit account to demonstrate to your lender your capability of repaying debt. However, it usually takes around 5 – 7 years to have your bad credit report to expire. This is the reason why “patience is virtue”.
When you have enough patience, you will discover that your credit score will rise and rise continuously and your old, bad credit score is being faded out. Don’t forget to payoff your bill on time, until you have a good credit score.
