I know it’s mandated by the FTC (I think) to offer an annual free credit report to individuals. Does someone know the best website/source for this information? There are a lot out there and I don’t want to go to the wrong one and enter my info only for it to be a scam. annualcreditreport.com *looks* like it might be legit, but thought I would ask to see if anyone knows for sure. Thanks.

Don’t go to a web site. Write or call the credit reporting company. There are 3 of them. Ask your librarian to help you find the addresses. That way you will be safe and know that you have the right one.

Yes, it is annualcreditreport.com. No charge, unless you want your credit scores.

annualcreditreport.com is THE only online resource for people to review their credit report once annually as required by federal law at no cost to you as the consumer. this website is owned and operated exclusively by the three major credit bureaus so as to legally comply with the federal law. the three main reasons for putting up the website annualcreditreport.com is to save postage, save paper(resources), and faster response. all the other websites are either regular businesses or regular scams.

I personally have used http://www.yourreporttoday.com to get all three of my credit reports and my FICO credit score for free! This site does ask for a credit card, but you can check it and then cancel it…this is what we do! The customer service people are great and just so you know…the reports do not update themselves!
