I have a 13 year old doctor bill for my daughter and it is still showing on my credit report. I have tried to contact the collection agency, however the one listed on the credit report doesn’t even have that debit anymore. How long will this continue to show on my credit report?

DIspute the item following the procedure on the credit bureau’s web site. Remember, the seven years starts with when the account went into default, not with the original date.

Contact the credit bureaus and dispute it. The FCRA only allows for this type of thing to show on your credit report for 7 years *from the last activity on the account*. The credit bureaus will require the creditor to provide proof, in writing, of the debt within 30 days. More often than not, that will be all you’ll need to do.
However, sometimes, collection agencies will (illegally) “re-age” something to keep it active on the report, or they’ll call you weeks before the statute of limitations expires and try to get you to agree to a token payment to start the clock ticking again. If you’re anywhere near the limit on these types of things, it’s better to not even acknowledge that the debt is yours.

You should be able to get it removed (and any that are more than 7 years old) automatically by contacting each of the credit bureaus (equifax, etc). It depends on if there was any activity on it recently though (some creditors will keep it active for years).
Equifax has a lot of helpful info on disputing a charge at http://www.equifax.com/answers/correct-c…

All you need to do is contact the credit report agency that the debt is listed on (Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion.) You need to write them a letter and request that they remove the information off of your credit report.

Just dispute it with all 3 bureaus. They have to remove it because according to the FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT, after the 7 year mark it has to fall off.
I remove negative items from people credit reports.

Hope this could be of great service!

Everyone is right so far! Contact the credit bureau and make sure you get a credit report after it’s “supposedly” done. You want to make sure they actually removed it.

You need to contact the credit bureau and dispute the report due to age. It is supposed to come out of your credit report after 7 years from last activity.
