How Do I Dispute Something On My Credit Report That Isn’t Mine?

Ok, someone stole my driver’s license a few years ago and made checks out of my name and identity. A collection agency is on my credit report, along with other companies, that refer to these bad checks. How do I get them off of my credit report? I have a police report saying my driver’s license was stolen, and a few pages of copies of the fraudulent checks.

Contact the credit report agency. They have a dispute process.

Dispute it with each of the bureaus that are reporting the debt. You may have to send your dispute to the collection agencies that are reporting it as well. Send copies of all your supporting documents that prove what happened. Good luck!
