1. If the site has the word “free” in its address, then it is a scam.
2. The site that lets you order your report for free once annually is http://www.annualcreditreport.com but only the report is free there, not the score.
3. The site http://www.creditkarma.com does have free scores, but those scores are used only by that site, and nowhere else in the world.

There are three major credit reporting companies. By law you are entitled to one or two reports a year. However, they don’t include your credit score. They may trick you into signing up for a monthly credit check. Make sure that after you get the report they don’t charge you a monthly recurring fee.
