You can get loans with bad credit, but they tend to be for relatively small amounts and for short periods of time. £1,500 is certainly at the upper limit of what you might get. Some lenders do not mind you having bad credit, provided you can prove you are earning enough to pay them back quickly. This type of loan is called normally called a payday loan and is very short term.
The other way of getting a lender to ignore your bad credit is to secure the loan against an asset, such as your house. These are secured loans. Outside of those two options, you are unlikely to have much luck.

You can borrow from a doorstep lender or somewhere like that, but their interest rates are astranomical. Plus it was subprime loans that caused the financial crisis and recession, so banks probably wont lend to you. Your only option is getting a loan from a doorstep lender, or else getting credit secured against your car, as bad credit loans can be secured against your car in some instances.

UK answer: You need to ask yourself firstly why your credit is bad – have you obtained your credit report and seen what is registered against you? If it’s just other factors, such as your age, address status or lack of previous credit, you may be able to do something about it – if you have bad credit outstanding, you are likely to have trouble obtaining credit from mainstream lenders.
You can see your credit report for free by registering at http://redo.me.uk/freecreditreport
There are specialist lenders that provide loans to customers with bad credit, so called – bad credit loans – but as you might expect the interest rate that is charged is higher than with other types of loan. This includes loans for people with defaults and loans for people with CCJs (County Court Judgements). A good example of such a company is Provident, who specialise in bad credit loans – http://redo.me.uk/provident
The best advice I can give, especially if you can wait for the car, is to save save save as your question suggests. If you have previous bad credit this would be the ideal solution for you, as it’ll cost you a lot less in the long run.
Good luck!

If you are trying to get a Auto Car Loan and you know that your credit is not the best then you do not need to worry because getting a Car Loan even with bad credit is not that hard. Most lenders know that people nowadays have taken some hits on there credit and they have made it easier to obtain a Car Loan even if you credit is bad.

When getting your auto loan be aware that you may be required to pay a higher interest rate because the lender will look at you as a higher risk with bad credit.A bad credit score not only may cost you thousands of dollars in high interest rates – if your credit score is in a really bad shape (e.g. below 500), you may not qualify for a loan at all.

you can get them even without going to loan sharks, but there interest rates are high as they are taking a bigger risk.
